Most self storage facilities offer a variety of unit sizes. The Self Storage Estimator is used to help select the right size for you.
The term Cube used in the Storage Calculator is the cubic feet that an article will normally occupy.
In an effort to help determine what space size you need, inventory your goods usingthe space calculator and simply follow the steps below.
- Fill in the number of each artcle stored.
- Multiply the number of each article by the cube number.
- Put the answer in the Total Cube column.
- Add the total number of cubic feet for all columns.
- Refer to the chart below and pick the right space for you!

Suggestions for Storing in Various Sized Mini-Storage Units
5W x 5L
Approximately a small walk-in closet. Small furniture such as a chest of drawers or chairs, plus boxes and miscellaneous small items. Office or personal records and/or workmen's tools and equipment.
5W x 10L
A couch and chair, chest of drawers or dress, mattress set, plus small items and boxes. Outdoor furniture, lawn mowers, garden tools, etc. Bicycles and/or motorcycles.
10W x 10L
Furniture from a one bedroom apartment without appliances, also small items and boxes.
10W x 15L
Furniture from two-bedroom apartment or house, miscellaneous items and cartons. Also may be used to store a car or truck and other small items.
10W x 20L
Furniture from a one-bedroom house with appliances, miscellaneous items and cartons. Also may be used to store a car or truck and other small items.
10W x 30L
Furniture from a three-bedroom house with miscellaneous items and cartons. Will hold contents of a 40ft. moving van. Also may be used to store a car or truck and other small items. Boats or RV's and some furniture and cartons, depending on the height of the garage doors.
